2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV

AG you're a pretty geeky guy... Have you done time in Silicon Valley?
AI? Impressive....

I hate computers.
Love computers, still remember when my bother in law got is first Commodore 64 computer, maybe with a tape drive and floppy.
I remember him showing me how he set up his retirement accounts to track.
Since that day I dreamed of getting one, things progressing fast and busy at that time of my life I finally made my first purchase of a Windows 95 around 96. It was a self contained Packard Bell. I was hooked right away, when on to separates with more memory, external dial up modems, swapping out hard drives for larger ones, more memory!!! and ultimately as soon as a new processor would come out, replaced that and the motherboard, LOVED IT ALL. But no, I was never in the industry, there was something about me and school that I just wasnt a classroom guy, now mature if I had to do it all over maybe.
I owned a retail store which still stands today with the next generation that my partner and I sold too. But we retained ownership of the building I speak of, mixed commercial and residential.

Anyway, since I was like 11 years old. I was the go to kid/guy in my community about anything electronic. Loved reading it all, best friends rather wealthy dad took me to stores for security systems as I got older, also for his complete new home stereo system. Same for all my siblings, audio, video, installed audio system in one of their fairly sized boats with dual stations/flybridge)
Wired all my own boats for electronics, circuit panels for (at the time) latest CRT color depth sounder. Marine radios everything. Loved it.

Heck, I remember I also did electrical wiring at all my friends homes as they bought their first home.
One friend who had a landscaping business for the 1920s home on a large piece of property.
He tore down all the interior walls, had an electrician come in and install a new breaker box. Once that was done, I went in and installed all new wiring, every room in the house kitchen, laundry, heating system, bedrooms, living rooms everything brought up to date and up to Code The house electrical work. passed local and county inspections.

I really lived a full and mostly happy life, some downfalls, I am remarried but all good, kids are all good, heck my ex wife was at our house when my daughter visited over the summer. But I think like your stories. Looking back I would CERTAINLY do things a little different, grew up in the 60s and 70s, things were wild, had a great time but would tone things down a little if I got to do it all over.

Works for me! 🙃
Me too, although I built one on the Chevy website and I wanted the backup monitoring system and lane change warnings and so forth, that was about a $1600 package. Otherwise all stock. I probably would have picked a few more things but every time I did, I had to accept some hugely expensive package. Ended up around $37K.

Yes, I know, those packages can get you!
I’m sure you know by now I love electronics, but I’m just not willing to pay the price that they want by adding them on.

2025 Blazer EV just got more power, torque and range. I’m guessing Equinox EV gets those updates too - but not yet official.

Sure enough, AWD Equinox EV got bumped from 285 miles to 307 miles.

In the last month, these have popped up all over the place, down here.
I've only seen a couple so far, but as popular as the Mach-E has been here, I have a feeling these will do great too. It's a lot easier than getting a Tesla in the state of Wisconsin and for those that prefer GM and want an EV, I can't imagine this won't do well. I see a lot more Bolts than I thought I would in a small midwest town.

Wife and I sat in a new Equinox EV yesterday at the Chevy dealer. Had the keys, ran the AC for some time while playing around with the car and controls. Very nice car, sharp looking liked the styling. Was a little disappointed in the stereo though this was one of the least expensive versions on the lot (no Bose) at around $43k

It was my wife's choice and I cant knock her choice and freely admit some range anxiety considering where we live, she chose the new 2025 gasoline version of the Equinox instead. More truck/SUV like, more room, it's really a different vehicle. The model has been completely updated from previous model years, whole knew look.
Cacti Green, larger squared off back, more SUV like, had a ton of options (LT model but with over 4k in options)which I am not usually big on but the car is for her. Also unlike the EV it had Apple Car Play and Android Play if you have Android. Insurance for the car is only $298 per 6 month policy too.

Without question though, the EV version is REALLY nice if you are looking for that body type.

Electric equinox I assume you’re talking about?
It certainly is a style that Americans love = SUV
Heck even I gave in on the SUV/crossover style. I'll still call it a protest, but it's hard to argue with smartly packaged space of a smaller crossover, especially since the hatchback is on life support these days.

They really did well with the styling on the Equinox and the Blazer. Someone over there has a good eye for it these days. It's hard to nail attractive proportions in this type of vehicle.

Edmunds got 356 miles on their standard EV range test from a FWD Equinox EV. Beat every Tesla they’ve tested, despite being almost $10,000 cheaper than the cheapest Tesla.

I don't know what happened to EPA testing, but something massively changed in the last year. 356 is spectacular, but even the Model 3 that was rated for 361 did 380 miles. I'm just happy to see real range coming out of some more affordable cars. This Equinox should do well for GM.
