2023 Audi SQ7 oil filter disaster with pics

Got a waiter oil service this morning.

First removal of the air filter is a job. You have to use a 7 mm open end wrench to get to the clamps on the air intake.

They you must remove a cross brace with T30 torx bolts.

Then the oil filter can't be removed until you remove 2 oil feed lines for the turbo. Then put it baack together hoping there's no leaks from those 2 lines.

Why do you need a 7mm open ended wrench? Those clamps look accessible with a 7mm impact swivel or universal socket.

They are below that hard plastic cover thing. Believe me I tried every swivel I had with no luck even worse is pushing those 2 intakee boots back onto the air filter housing.

In defense of Audi, that is rarely seen performance SUV with a 500 HP-568 pounds of torque twin turbo V8.

What is the labor time for oil change on that car?

I hate how newer cars are built to be easier to put together during assembly, but they seem to forget about the ease of service part of it!

You kind of get into a different realm when one is talking about a $120K SUV by a German luxury brand. Designing ease of maintenance is low on the totem pole when 90% of the owners will never do their own maintenance even if it was accessible.

Wonder how long it was sucking dirt through the detached rubber air boot to the turbo intake.

Also, there were no metal lines located above and blockng the filter cap on that one.

Nope. He was able to pull the filter right out. The one I did there was no way. The lines are metal and would not allow filter removal without removing them from the turbos. Removing them is no big deal except that we did not have new seals to go on them. I hate reusing seals.
