2022 wrx

Tokyo Roki changed their name to just Roki a long time ago.

♦️ 2012 to be exact.

That says it was Toyo Roki though, I don't see the word Tokyo anywhere on that page:

If you Google it, there is a Toyo Roki and a Tokyo Roki company. Seems Toyo Roki made some Honda filters, and Tokyo Roki made some Subaru filters at some point.
Well.

One BITOG member hit the jackpot this weekend. I won't mention who..

This left ambiguous on purpose.

These say Tokyo Roki. As long as they aren't counterfeit.. oh they gonna get worked out, I am sure.

I used to think the new WRX was ugly now it's kind of growing on me.

I've never seen one with the printing Toyo Roki. Apparently the company IS Toyo Roki, spelled same as tires. I don't know. Kinda like LiquiMoly and Lubro Moly maybe.

The Roki (Tokyo Roki) filters AFAIK are the trademark black, say Tokyo Roki maybe now Roki but Made In Japan and are high quality units.

How do you know when that filter was made? Could it be it's old enough to say Tokyo Roki instead of just Roki.

That's a distinct possibility.

Your research leads you to believe it could say either or? The Mazda N3R1-14-302 (that's like an uLtImAtE Subaru H@cK filter) might say Toyo. I really don't know.

And @TiGeo is now availed of the the Tavarish video that, as excellent and fitting the vehicle he has and it is, has zero to do with 2022 WRX.

Would be nice if they brought back external trans filters, they spin on and spin off. Genious...

From the owner's manual for 2022 WRX:

I love how Subaru is forced to push 0W-20 in North America, but still puts "proper quality and viscosity" before "fuel economy". In other words: use higher viscosity oil if you want long engine life. (See my recommendations in previous comments.) Or use 0W-20 for fuel economy, and once the warranty is up or close to the end - have fun dealing with oil consumption issues and worn-out turbo bearings.
We some times just look at the picture.

Well my search has turned up no evidence of a Toyo Roki Subaru oil filter. Only a Honda version. Even found old posts on other forums where I mentioned "Tokyo" and "Toyo (sp?)". And also an aftermarket Mazda company where they covered up the first part of the name on the filter.

I'm gonna bump up all of the old BITOG threads and blame them. And ask them if they use Mobile 1 as well. :p

Said the same in post #176.
My Wife just yesterday picked up a new 2023 Crosstrek 6mt, I'll take a pic of the filter on there. It's black.

To confuse matters, (Toyo) Roki claims to be OEM for Subaru. So I have been saying Toyo, Toyo, TOYO, then I find a
old Tokyo Roki hiding in my basement. IIRC it had a Subaru p/n on it. I'll double check.
I also have a OE filter off a Honda Fit built just after the Fukishima disaster. I'll image that too.

Partial list of Roki, CO. Ltd. customers - they also make intake manifolds and air filter and other plastic parts

Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
Kawasaki Heavy Industries
Kubota Corporation
Mazda Moter Corporation
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
Panasonic Corporation Appliances Company
Piaggio & C. S.p.A.
SUBARU CORPORATION
Suzuki Motor Corporation
Toyota Motor Corporation

Have you checked to see if it radioactive :ROFLMAO:

Which aligns with my comment in post #176. That filter looks to be nearly 10 years old, so back then they were touting the Tokyo Roki trade mark.

Toyo Roki is now Roki and/or Filtech** roki.jp.com/

Tokyo Roki is Still dba Tokyo Roki. But their Web addr is: roki.co.jp/ to confuse things further - this may be intentional!

These are the quality OE installed filters on "J" vin Mazda and Subaru

I will have a photo of the possible Tokyo Roki filter factory installed on my wife's new car when she gets home from work this afternoon.

See, it is confusing.

Here us a couple pics of the filter on my wife's brand new 2023 crosstrek premium 6mt built in Japan.
Sorry for the angle, hard to get in there between all the plumbing with a stupid phablet camera...

@ARCOgraphite , not to throw you under the bus, but you were also one of the ones saying Toyo Roki in some of the old threads that I posted. I still say some of the older Subaru filters were labeled as "Toyo" even though I found a pic of Subaru filter from 2008 mentioning Tokyo.

One Mazda aftermarket company showed a pic of one of theirs with the word covered up and it only showed Roki. I guess they didn't want to get involved in the confusion. :ROFLMAO:
