Yes I did.Looks solid
Did you pull the gasket off before cutting?
Not sure what filter the others use. SorryDoes the WRX use a shorter filter than other Subarus? Hood clearance a factor?

The cut as you say is not as clean as I usually see and many first time cutting many forget to pull of gasket.Curious why you're asking? I'm new to this.
I found I had the cutter way too tight. It went faster when i loosened it.The cut as you say is not as clean as I usually see and many first time cutting many forget to pull of gasket.
I also think many don't let the cutter do the work to much pressure on the cutter
Learning curve but I think that's the biggest mistake I believe I did same when I started.I found I had the cutter way too tight. It went faster when i loosened it.

Squished because I was getting frustrated and couldn't get the filter cut easily. That was for sure my bad.Is that a tear on one of the pleats or is it just squished a little bit?
My biggest thing was not being able to grip the filter well because it was oily tied with the tight cutting wheelI leave the oily gasket on when cutting, helps reduce friction and doesn't mar-up the cutter. Yes, cranking down on the cutting wheel with too much pressure is not the way to go. Go easy and take more rotations to cut through the can.
