NAPA Synthetic Blend 5W-20 ran for 5045 miles in my wife's 2022 Ford Bronco Sport 1.5L 3cy. Fuel dilution is at 2% and not surprising since it is about 90% short tripping during that time.

In went Amazon Basics Synthetic Blend HM 5W-30. Might go down to a 3K mile OCI for that, test again and go from there.

Wouldn't it be basically the same price to go pick up a synthetic 5w20 from Walmart than head to Napa for a blend? Or even amazon? $25.99 for the blend at my local Napa. $19 for Supertech synthetic.
I did not start the thread as a commentary of where the best value of my oil purchase would be, but since we are here, I bought both oils on clearance or sale. NAPA was $13 and the Amazon Basics $15 for the 5 quart jugs.

I have a Ford Escape with a 1.5L turbo engine.
I decided to use Mobil 1 synthetic oil and Fram Ultra filters.
I drive about 4,000 miles per year .... mostly short trips.
I tested the oil when I had 3,600 miles on it and fuel dilution was 2.4% .... OLM at 16%

Because the engine is 3 cylinders with a turbo,
I decided to change the oil at 3,500 miles or when OLM is at 15%. (whichever comes first).
They should be very close to each other.

That means I will be changing the oil every 10 months.
I want to stake the deck in my favor .... the odometer only has 5 digits / 99,999 miles

Looks good. 4k oci. Vis is getting low.

Even with the low viscosity, wear is very low for 5k. Good showing for this oil.
Yeah, it stayed in grade. I had a short run 1600 mile run with Mobil Full Synthetic 5W-30 on my Ford Ranger 2.3L ecoboost and it sheared out of grade rather quick with only like a 1.3% fuel dilution.

As you recognize, it needs 3k oci and a 5w30. I have read on here somewhere about Renewable Lubricants 5w30 holds up to dilution better than most. Maybe give it a shot if you can't find something else you "like".

The engine looks like it's settled down after break-in and producing nice wear numbers. Fuel dilution is obvious, but you know that, and the engine doesn't seem to mind. Interested to see how the 5w30 blend does.

@Hootbro I think this is a great run for Napa syn blend. Many here seem to think turbocharged engines absolutely need a synthetic oil but this analysis shows that a decent syn blend is definitely up to the task. Thanks for sharing.

How long was the oil in service for?
