2021 GMC Terrain "Stuck 02" code

My coworker has a 2021 GMC Terrain that has the turbo Ecotec 4 cylinder. It didn't show a check engine light but when I hooked up my bluepoint reader it pulled a P2270 code which I've never come across. It states
"For a 2021 GMC Terrain, a "stuck" oxygen (O2) sensor code typically points to one of two conditions:
the sensor is reporting a mixture that is too lean (P2270)." She did tell me that her mom puts cheap gas in it, and that last year it broke down and a mechanic replaced the 02 sensor.

I suggested running the tank low a bottle of Techron and filling with premium fuel.

Has anyone come across this or repaired this?

I’m going to guess that mechanic probably put in an aftermarket O2 sensor. If it doesn’t go away on its own, I would recommend an OEM replacement from RockAuto. O2 sensors are so hit or miss nowadays it’s crazy.

Being a 2021 it's likely just out of warranty or darn close. Interesting.

How does the LT and ST trims look now? How does the voltage oscillation look? But maybe a guess this has the new wideband sensors.

Who can afford premium fuel?! They won't keep up that practice and the ECU will be having fits readjusting the tune when the 87 goes back in.

What emission component warranty does she have? too late I suppose - used to be long for CAL smog states.

For any emissions-related component that requires repair, the warranty that has the broadest coverage applies.

Federal Emissions Control System Warranty
Warranty coverage depends on the type of vehicle and the emissions component.

Light Duty Car or Truck

Emissions-related components are warranted for 2 years of 24,000 miles, whichever comes first
Select emissions-related components are warranted for 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first. Covered components include: catalytic converters, engine control module, transmission control module and other diagnostic-emissions-critical electronic control units

Was there a condition or issue that prompted scanning for codes? Was there work done on the vehicle? I've been following the GM LYX 1.5 pretty closely for the past few years as I own a 2021 Equinox with this engine. I've not seen any reports of this code, or any O2 sensor anomalies for that matter.

Combo of Bad o2/ “poopy” fuel. Already seen this with a few already….

Doesn’t have to be delco- but it still better be a high end one and not a rock auto cheapie…….

I own two different versions of turbo’d Ecotec (1.5/ 1.4) and BOTH will notice cheap gas. You can get away with it once in a while (Kroger), but top tier would be wise for happy long term ownership.

Both here get top tier with a tank of 93 every once in while. No issues here- happy turbo engines.

My coworker told me that her check engine light was on but was fixed after her oil change. I told her the oil has nothing to do with the check engine light. I happened to have my scanner in my trunk so I told her that I could scan her vehicle and see if it pulled any codes. There wasn't a check engine light on at the time. That's when my scanner found the code stored. The really odd thing is that in ACC mode it wouldn't clear. Only after I started the vehicle did it clear. My coworker also told me that last year while in Las Vegas their vehicle broke down and a mechanic replaced their 02 sensor. I've just never seen a "stuck" 02 sensor. Not completely sure as if it's a 4-cylinder it should only have two?

Colorado didn't adopt California emissions till 2022 and hers is a 2021. Go figure. It sounds like the problem keeps popping up.

Apparently P2270 is bank 2 "stuck lean". This is in regards to the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter. If this was the sensor that was replaced, It would be worth a try swapping it with a known good OEM replacement.

I've never seen a "Stuck lean " code. What would cause a four-year-old 02 sensor to go bad? Is this able to be fixed under warranty?

Was this the sensor that got replaced in Vegas last year? If it was, I would think it's a dud.

You'd really have to see some live data to see how the downstream O2 sensor behaves and how it corresponds with the upstream sensor.
