Just some further updates. I had been sitting around 15mpg all summer and then the code 43 returned. My mileage dropped to around 13. Also found that the even bank was running cooler than the odd bank. 50 to 60C difference.
Found some time today and installed a TBI rebuild. 2.5 hours from set up to clean up. Nothing out of the ordinary but the original parts were in decent shape. There appeared to be some sort of oily seepage on the atmosphere side and exterior. Anyway, went back together just fine considering it was dark out and I was using a headlamp. My shop lights aren't set up yet....
Fired up great, no leaks and a great idle. After a spirited test drive, found both banks now equal in exhaust temperature.
Next up is the knock sensor.... which should be arriving this week from amazon. Once installed I will fill up the tank and track some mileage.
