1994 Checly C1500 Siverado 5.7L w/ 280K miles
I am getting an intermittent Code 43 which from what I can tell is typically a problem with the knock sensors or ESC. I hope the below is not too lenghty but want to give as much details as possible.
It happens mostly when I first start the truck in the morning and it may come on and go off 4 to 5 times during the first 4 or 5 miles I drive to work. It typically stays on for 0 to 30 seconds each time however the truck seems to run normally when it comes on. May be me just reaching for clues but it seems to do it a time or two more the cooler it is outside. When I go to lunch or leave to come home at the end of the day it is about 50/50 if it will do it at all then it is usually just once. This has been going on for about three weeks.
About two weeks before this started I replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor button. About two months before I replaced the starter.
From what I read it seems there should be two knock sensors but so far I just see the one on the backside of the engine on the passenger side. I saw it while changing the starter. I had to unplug the wire to get the starter out (seemed like less risk to damage) but did put it back on. Supposedly one on the drivers side of the engine but I canot locate.
How to trouble shoot this instead of just throwing parts at it???
