2021 BMW F750 GS - Good Oil?

I ordered more Castrol Power1 4T

I'll dump the 5W-40 in something else!

Would also be fine in a gasoline portable generator?
Good choice.

People love the Rotella 5W-40 in motorcycles for some reason. My experience with it was unsatisfactory. Clunky shifting after only 1500 miles. Drained it out and went back to Mobil 1 and Valvoline, no more shifting problems.

It should work fine in a generator and lawn mower.

I'm not clear what you did here.

Wasn't the Castrol Power1 4T you had a 5w40? So you dumped the Castrol, but you got more Castrol?

Or did you get the Power 1 4T in 10w40?

So you tried the Rotella and you're dumping it now?

I'm confused...

I agree, lots of confusion in this thread.
😵‍💫

I don't know why I said 5W-40, when they are both 5W-40! Long days the past few days

I bought the Rotella T6 on a whim when I heard it could work, just because it was so cheap. But then, after further discussion it seems like it won't be a good idea. So, I bought some more of the Castrol Oil too

I'll use the T6 in something

Changing the oil on my BMW F750 GS some time this weekend, and I'll be using Castrol Power1 4T 5W-40 Full Synthetic Motorcycle Oil which has the JASO MA-2 certification

Once I use up what I have with this change, I will need to buy more. Keep buying this oil?
I've used the Castrol Power 1 10W-40 full synthetic in my Yamaha XSR900. Seemed to work OK, but seemed that the conventional Valvoline 10W-40 motorcycle oil kept the shifting a bit better longer. The conventional Valvoline foamed less too in the sight glass. The Castrol wasn't bad, but I could tell a difference through the oil level sight glass. Next oil change I'm going to try Valvoline 10W-40 full synthetic motorcycle oil.

Please do report back on the Valvoline!

It will be awhile before that oil change. I'd expect it to be better than the Valvoline conventional which has worked well in a few of my bikes. The spec sheet on the Valvoline full synthetic looks good, and the noack is very low if that matters.

I just changed my oil today with the Castrol Power1, so I've got exactly 1 year until my bike complains at me again

This is the third oil change and I'm not yet at 5000 miles, so I could go longer I guess, but I feel like changing sooner is better
