my Mazda have both the engine and the transmission that is originally Mazda design; however, the car is assembled in US

and yes I do agree, Made in Japan counts for something vs Made in Elsewhere

Ya that one, but IMO his measure for reliability begins at 100k miles.


He doesn't like the BMW version either. Eccentric shaft failure is thousands of dollars in repairs. I think BMW and Mazda share similar design.

Not sure who manufactures BMWs but the Mazda has a Denso unit also used in some Lexuses. Haven't heard of any trouble with them

I don't believe that is correct. Mazda makes their own SkyActiv drive. Now as for individual parts, that gets complicated.
