It seems to be super hit or miss, and more common on earlier years of the cylinder deactivation. Mazda added it in 2018, so 2018 and 2019 CX-5s seems to affected the most. The newer Mazda platform seems to be less affected. And I would imagine Mazda has also been working to improve the casting cause it also seems to be less common the CX-5s as the model years went on. It didn’t dissuade me from buying my CX-50.Both of my Mazda's have the cylinder deactivation feature. Super........
