2018 Flex battery recommendations.

Today I did the normal minor maintenance on my 2018 Flex and the battery is tested weak. I feel its on its way out. My previous factory installed Motorcraft/Ford battery didn't last long either. While its still under warranty I don't want another Motorcraft battery that seems to fail within a year or two. What would you recomend as a good replacement battery? (I do live in the mojave desert if that matters) Are the Duralast Gold any good? Thanks.

I was wondering why you e gone through so many batteries, but since heat kills, and you noted your location, guess that's it...

Three ways to look at it:
1) spend more money on a fancy AGM that might last a bit longer under adverse conditions, but that may not amortize well depending upon what life you actually get.
2) buy for best warranty and vendor that honors it, knowing that they die quick and so perhaps you can get a more economic solution if you get it swapped a few times in that period
3) save hassle and energy and find the cheapest battery you can, knowing that they die fast and lowest cost means you can swap them on your terms without hassling with warranties. If you are cranking in hot temperatures all the time. You don't need max ccas.

I'd honestly lean towards 3, and look at the value line from Walmart, and the Costco batteries or similar.

I've had good luck with Oreillys Superstart Extreme flooded Batteries. These are made by East Penn. Sam's Club also sells a Duracell branded auto battery made by EP for around 105$. Napa also has batteries made by EP , but the warranty seemed to be shorter.

I read my post again and should clarify, this will be the first battery for the Flex. But prior to the Flex I had another Ford that also lost a battery within its first year. So two Ford early battery failures. I have an Interstate in my truck but I only drive it about 5k a year. So it needing a battery every 3 years (plus the heat) makes sense.

Wal-Mart's AGM "Everstart Platinum" has a 5 yr free replacement warranty. For your Flex it's $149.76.

If it's under warranty, I'd get a new Motorcraft one from Ford. I don't think there is any difference in quality between the Motorcraft and other brand batteries.

Btw, the Walmart Maxx for $94 is also a good value for a 3+2 year warranty and 100 more CCA than the $150 AGM.
