Right on point. Had to do chains on my 11 S4. Although the 30 hour time is grossly overestimated. 10 hours if the motor mount bolts don't strip. 12 if they do.

The 5w30 is a much better all round oil that can be used in almost anything, Ditto the Mobil 1 0w40.
LM HTHS 3.5 Noack: 10,0 % Look at the actual approvals not the recommendations.
ESP 5w30 HTHS 3.5 Noack: 7 %

Well yeah, early models did have issues and position of timing chain doesn’t help.
But, nothing compared to that V8 atrocity.
man it’s the same thing as the v6. just don’t play hero with jackstand and harbor freight engine hoist
i had a v8 s4 subframe on the ground in like 3 hours, never did it before
IMO the V8 (and really all) VWAG timing issues are solved by using a good oil at 5k intervals.
Every time someone has issues it's a 10k/1yr OCI or longer.

Thank you for that information, sir. ESP is Mobil's flagship oil. Which LM product are you comparing it against??? New Gen2 x-40, or the LM Synthoil x-40??? I see specs you listed for the Mobil ESP, but the specs listed for LM does not list a SPECIFIC product next to it.
To be quite honest, I'm tired of members on this board, especially respected members with lots of posts listing approvals as a holy grail, getting add-a-boy points and likes from other members.....then in other threads doing a 180* and recommending a oil with NO APPROVALS just because that oil is the new darling of the site and a site sponsor. Then the same people flock to that thread with add-a-boy points and praises.
Either you have a standard of which all oils to be judged by, or you don't.
Haven’t done one myself, book time is 24.9 hrs. Euro techs I know won’t touch one for under 30 hrs

The V8 in B7 S4 couldn’t be helped with anything. Cannot remember the engine code.
IIRC a company developed a special oil for that engine.
That was certainly a “flavor of the month” situation.
No I mean I recall a company developing a specific oil for the S4 V8.

Guys, tbh, Euro techs are a special kind of breed. The "aura" they surround themselves thinking they're special working on Euro cars is something else.
The owners that pay such inflated prices for those cars and running to the dealer or a "certified" Euro shops every time and pay inflated labor for the smallest repair do nothing but fuel the ego of those Euro technicians.
Case and point, just helped a single mom with a alternator issue. Just had to swap it to a part she purchased. Local shop that specializes in German and "foreign" makes quoted her $240 for a install.
I understand shop rates, I understand keeping the light on, however this is a 07 Outback. It took me 10 minutes to swap that suckered out and told her to have a nice day.

I can confirm that 42hrs on B7 S4 is quoted by the guy who is definitely a specialist and a person who never, absolutely never, would recommend some unnecessary work.
When it comes to B7 S4, that quote usually comes after: I told you not to get that junk. And he is Audi guy and has driven strictly Audi's since 1972.
I am the first who is going o say there are a lot of mechanics that have no clue about any vehicles, but this one is not that. Of course, someone might do it faster, but that is not necessarily good.

VW503.01? Mobil 1 0W40 always met that approval which is outdated.
However, they were coming filled with Castrol SLX 0W30 and that oil also was approved for 503.
