This is my family car motor and what some long term Ford owners in my area drive (including millionaire ranchers with Lincoln SUV ) - so several oils are good enough - but if you wanted to go two or three times the warranty don't think daddy's Pennzoil Conventional is best

Lincolns are the most gorgeous cars ever made!! And black is the classic Lincoln color imo! I bet their car is beautiful!

It would be really interesting for a warranty claim in such a situation to be denied because of oil used, if Pennzoil Conventional in the correct viscosity and holding the Motorcraft specification were demonstrated to have been used. In this case, the dealer is clearly interested in selling their own oil. He's not interested in anything else. Would Motorcraft Canada's oil be okay? It's made by someone else, after all.
Maybe this person at the dealer is writing diesel engine oil memos on behalf of Ford, too.

Ok, what I stated about my friends comment was totally wrong. On my part I misunderstood what he said. He said that ANY API-SN-ILSAC-GF-5 motor oil can be used in the 3.5 Navi engine. He stated that "HE" would use MC 5W30 semi-synthetic in the DI engine, changing it EVERY 3K miles. He also stated that the Navi gets complimentary OCI's for the first 2 years (that's what his dealership offers). If my cousin is changing his own oil that he must have opted out of the complimentary OCI's. I asked my cousin and he stated that he did because the dealership is 102 miles away.
About the wrong oil in the engine statement, he stated that he has NEVER seen a warranty claim for an engine failing from the wrong spec'd oil. His shop DID deny a warranty claim on an F150 differential due to the wrong weight gear lube without friction modifier being added. The NOACK statement was mentioned about 15% or something like that. I sure hope all of this is correct, or, makes sense. I might have stated something wrong, or, out of order here. All I was asking was an opinion on the OCI for my cousin's Navi. I didn't know I would wind up this deep into something so trivial to me. Flame me, beat me, mock me, I don't care any more. I did what I could to get answers for the technical guru's here and will just leave it at that.

I don't know about awesome looks, but we all went to lunch the other day in one. All I can say is it really had that powerful feel like a large displacement V8.
Thankfully it is really quiet, no gasping/wheezing turbo'd noises, just great power.

No, you didn't do that. I have the utmost respect for you. You have taken your time to teach me things about oil I never knew. Coming from a former teacher (pipe fitter/welder) I take my hat off to you.
I am not ashamed to admit that I don't know everything about oil. I learn something new every day. And, it isn't just oil related. It's about everything. There was ONLY (1) perfect person on Earth and He died on the cross for our sins!
