2017 Lincoln Navigator, 17K miles, 3.5 Eco-Boost

My cousin just recently bought this demo model for his wife.
We were talking about the engine and the oil system in it. He also owns a 2010 Lariat F150, and a 2003 Chevy Silverado. He always changes the oil in the (2) trucks every 5K miles using Pennzoil conventional. He wants to keep the Navi on the same diet, every 5K miles. I suggested using Pennzoil Conventional 5w30 every 5K miles with a MC oil filter at EVERY oil change. Opinions?

In an EcoBoost i would run synthetic, Mobil 1 5w30 with a MC filter is a proven combination.

Whenever I hear 3.5 EcoBoost, I think Castrol Magnatec 5W30.

Does Ford/Lincoln/Mercury recommend synthetic oil?

I think they want Synthetic blend at minimum, but for any Turbo engine synthetic oils are amways a good idea.
Castrol Magnatec 5W30 works well in Ecoboost engines too.

Correct. Owner's manual recommends Motorcraft 5w30 which is a synthetic blend.

There is also an optional Motorcraft 5w30 full synthetic.

With my 2012 F150 Ecoboost, I used Motorcraft 5w30 full synthetic with 5k intervals. After the warranty period, I used 0w40 Mobil 1 with great results until I sold it. Now, with my 2016 F150 EcoBoost, I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 and a Motorcraft filter.

Ford's specification includes virtually any SN rated oil, conventional, blend or synthetic. But I'd vote for at least a blend (Magnatec seems to work well) or Mobil 1. Mobil 1 seems a good choice because it's a low-calcium formulation, which helps on the LSPI front and it's on the "heavier" side, helping maintain viscosity despite the inevitable fuel dilution.

Look at the Motorcraft oil used oil analysis. SN, GF5.

Look at the Motorcraft oil used oil analysis. SN, GF5.

What is a used oil analysis going to tell me about the testing requirements behind this Ford specification?

I looked up the owners manual and this is what I found.
When I recommended Pennzoil conventional I didn't know that the engine was DI. So, I then recommended that he use a synthetic blend oil, at the least. He said he's going to use Pennzoil Gold 5W30 synthetic blend.
I also called my Ford Tech Foreman friend back in FL. and asked him about using Pennzoil conventional. He said that he CAN use it, but, AFTER the warranty is up. He stated that as long as he changes the oil AND filter every 5K miles, he can use Super Tech 5W30 if he wanted to, with no harm coming to the engine.

So, all you FLAMERS, go away!

In a big ol' navigator the Eco V6 must be working pretty hard, and Ecoboost engines are not easy on the oil, i would use the best oil i can, specially if it's a brand new vehicle.
