2017 Acura VCM Engine - Surprisingly Clean

2017 Acura RDX with 78K.

Engine was disassembled for an oil pump reseal. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of this engine. It has only seen 5K intervals (per the computer) with Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, Valvoline Advanced Synthetic and for the last 8K…Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W20.

There is usually a lot of varnish on this side of the block. This one is sparking clean. Not sure if it’s due to the Valvoline Restore and Protect or the low mileage, but it’s a win.

Very nice! My daughter’s 2016 RDX front cylinder head. Also 5k oci’s but with ESP 0W-30. 140k miles.

Looks excellent, That being said I think we need to add that climate may play a role in how "Clean" an engine stays. ?

I doubt climate has any impact.
Yes, it was receiving an oil pump reseal. Timing Belt Hydraulic Tensioner was also failing (nasty engine rattle).

I'm thinking cold climate=more fuel in oil=dirtier engine.

You're keeping it on the road longer & sounds like it's still in serviceable condition.

I have had multiple cars and still have a car with 200K that I changed the oil every 10K to 20K and they look this good if not better. My wife's old 2009 CX-9 was torn down at 220K miles to replace the water pump and the tech called be a liar about my extended OCI's until I showed him my maintenance log.
