I would counter offer at $24k and probably settle for $24.5-25k.

So, what do you think their cost is?

He sent me a photo of a document titled "vehicle invoice" that shows "dealer cost" at $26,322. Their quote is $26,000. Now, I know that can't be their cost because they aren't going to lose money.

I don't mind them making money - I just don't want them making their sales week on me! LOL

...so is there any way I can determine their actual cost???

I bought a new 2015 last May, Limited trim in WR Blue Pearl with the 6 speed. I adore this car! It's not the fastest car, but is fast. Compared to a GTI or my Focus ST with their diesel like torque curves it's more like a naturally aspirated engine. It's got decent power below 3k rpm, but boost comes on stronger and faster above 3k. That took a little getting used to. But it feels better on the top end than those cars.

The stock shifter feel is terrible, like pushing a stick into gravel, but if you add a brass shifter bushing and an aftermarket shifter stop it improves it dramatically. That costs about $40 total and can be done in a half hour. There are videos online, it's incredibly easy.

And a less important point: The car is a BITOGer's dream. The oil pan is easy to get to, no undertrays to remove, and the oil filter is mounted up top. You can easily change the filter, literally without spilling a drop, just by lifting the hood. Combine that with my Fumoto valve and it's the best oil change car I've ever seen.

I'm trying to figure out how to post the photo of the invoice from my phone from Imgur.

Here we go:

So, if what you're saying is correct, holdback would be about $561 behind invoice...which would make their cost -

$26,322
- 561
___________

$25,761
-------------------

So, with no doc fee, they're now making $239 on the deal. If that's correct, I'm not about to haggle with them over $239.

Yeah, if Robenstein is correct, it's a good deal. And other dealerships haven't come close to this offer.

Frankly I don't see how they can be profitable only making $239 on a car. They must do a lot of volume.

Great information. Thanks! That's cool to know that the oil filter is on top. My Tacoma is like that and I love it.

So, you have done the shifter bushing and stop?

What is a Fumoto valve?

My (lame and slow) Subaru has a Kartboy shifter and bushings now. It was a great improvement.

A Fumoto valve is a brass valve that replaces the oil drain plug. Some people like them, and others hate them. There are dozens of conversations here on the topic. Amazon carries them.
