Came across a Toyota Tuundra, 2015 , 147k miles.

Looks like never parked in a garage. No corrosion from salt. Cheap aftermarket body stuff done to the truck. I speculate all maintenance has been neglected.

Other than a low front right tire, test drive going well. I can see why these trucks hold value so well.

The repairs to gift to my oldest Son are minimal. New headlights, new bumpers, all new fluids, new breakers, new tires, new shocks, new seat covers.

OEM LED headlight upgrade is stupid easy (get the harness from iHacker) and WELL worth it. I think Serra still has their sale going on?

I really appreciate the TRD shift knob, but I shift manually A LOT so it's a tactile interface thing.

Our '15 Platinum is at almost exactly the same mileage, although we only bought it last fall at ~135k

Hod does $10,100 sound?

Yes, plus that bottom black strip doesn't look stock.
It is not, you are correct.

Just received the carfax, car did spend some time in Virginia, and a little in Illinois, which is not good. But not seeing any significant salt related corrosion.

Maintenance light is in. The obd connector is flopping loose, so that is a big flag.

It’s probably clean since there’s little rust elsewhere, but may want to peek behind those fender flares, folks often cover rust with them.
They might also just be cheap sheet metal screws just drilled no paint or rust protectant at the holes. Maybe unscrew and check or pull fender liners and at least spray the screws/areas with BlasterShield, Fluid Film, Woolwax or a Noxudol version.

Cerakote seems to be getting a lot of good reviews for getting the textured black (grey) nice and dark again. A bottle of simple green and a hose will clean the engine bay up nicely.

If that's what you paid you could more than double that by vacuuming it out today.

Something like that is ~$22k around here. I paid $27k for our Platinum with 135k mi in very good to excellent condition, and was happy to do it.

They hold their value because they're solid and never need anything AND the '22+ are garbage. Basic V8. No turbo. No variable displacement. No GDI. No wet belts.

Pro tip: just drive in Tow/Haul every time. No joke. It's like a built-in power tune.

Personal pet-peeve: if the hood struts are weak just replace them, please. I buy cheapies on Amazon or ebay -- they work fine

Yep, pull the purge valve (hoses, whatever) and activate it -- that Innova will probably do it? You should be able to blow through then not blow through. If it doesn't click at all test the wiring just be sure it's not a wiring issue.

Based on the underbody, it wasn't in Illinois for very long. That's just surface rust and nothing to be concerned about. On that same note, I doubt the fender flares are there to hide rust. I see those a lot and some people just like them for their appearance. If you remove them, you've got holes to patch and paint, plus your son might like the look.

What's the bed look like ? It's definitely a construction work truck and probably never saw a car wash other than someone hitting it with a pressure washer when one was handy !

Oh also if lugnuts are OEM get aftermarket one-piece. Here again I've been using cheap Amazon sets. Scratches will rust but McGard specifically says "will not rust" on their packaging and they totally rust, too. Check Amazon reviews if in doubt about McGard rust

SR5 grilles are easy to find because guys swap to TRD or the newer honeycomb, but personally I love the basic, industrial look of the SR5 grille, esp with our Sunset Bronze (or whatever they call it)

TRD Off Road but no skid plates? Not familiar with Toyotas but I don't see a gas tank skid plate or tcase one. Are they missing or was is it an "up badge"? I know even like a Z71 or FX4 comes with a full set of skid plates.

It has the factory skidplates on the T-case, and gas tank.
