I’m using 9 year old oil in my truck right now. I shake it up first and it’s fine.

Did anybody notice this sample has hardly any calcium? 171 ppm.

I wonder if this bearing wear is from corrosion due to insufficient calcium in the oil. What I remember is magnesium is a selective detergent, calcium is not. Maybe the oil is acidic and it attacked the soft metals.

Does acidic oil also attack RTV used is sealants? Could be where the silicon is coming from.

A TAN test would tell more about the oils condition than TBN.
