I'm impressed with those low wear numbers. Personally, I'd be more concerned with not exceeding normal operating temperature (coolant, oil and ATF) than the amount of wear on the internals under those conditions.UOA on my 2013 sierra . mostly highway with payload of 2k pounds ,running 20w50 because why not ? surprised by how the viscosity thinned out to 40 with only 5k miles.
Yeah i noticed that too it's made in USA but not sold there? but then again we dont have CAFE here lol. anyways 20W50 is the bread and butter of every car here camry, altima, hyundaiThat's a great looking uoa!I don't think we can get Motorcraft 20W50 here. Thickest I've seen is 10W30.
Love that label! That is one sweet looking bottle of oil!Yeah i noticed that too it's made in USA but not sold there? but then again we dont have CAFE here lol. anyways 20W50 is the bread and butter of every car here camry, altima, hyundai
50 weight doesn't seem so thick when it's 50c (122f) outside.Yeah i noticed that too it's made in USA but not sold there? but then again we dont have CAFE here lol. anyways 20W50 is the bread and butter of every car here camry, altima, hyundai
The 6.2 doesn’t have dod in this model year, so I don’t think it will have any problems .This might be the best LS UAO I've ever seen... Though, I thought thick oils weren't compatible with the DOD lifters? Be curious how a 15w40 does.
Still won’t end the thin vs thick debate on this site.FWIW- I was researching for an unrelated issue and came across a Ford GT500 site that did not have good things to say about the 5w-50 Motorcraft oil in the Gt500, which is supposed to be the Ford spec for that engine. If I could find it now I would post it. Also, FWIW I have never seen a bad UOA from any 20w50 oil in any engine.( that's not to say there are many) They are usually not just good, but exemplary. Makes you wonder...
Nice, unremarkable report.UOA on my 2013 sierra . mostly highway with payload of 2k pounds ,running 20w50 because why not ? surprised by how the viscosity thinned out to 40 with only 5k miles.
My oil is sp rated, so it’s not this one .Nice, unremarkable report.
If this PDS matches the oil you are running:

It started out at 20cSt and is now 14.77, a 26% loss in viscosity, which is quite substantial and unlikely to be fuel based on the flash point. Despite the narrow spread it would seem that this oil uses cheap bases and a decent slug of relatively low quality VII that has now sheared.
I'd be surprised if it changed, given than xW-50 doesn't really fall under any of the important categories that might require it to. That said, I'll see if I can locate a PDS for the SP version. My oil is sp rated, so it’s not this one .
I didn’t expect much considering it’s a dino oil![]()

And yes there is 5w50 but it’s expensive and not as thick as the 20w50
Too expensive, plus labor cost for changing oil is only 5$ . Which is why I prefer replacing oil more frequently.Try the Mobil 1 15w50
Quick question. if the engine has a lifter problem or ticking noise will it show up on UOA?I'd be surprised if it changed, given than xW-50 doesn't really fall under any of the important categories that might require it to. That said, I'll see if I can locate a PDS for the SP version.
