What people don't seem to get is that reliability varies within the brand you champion. Not ALL Toyota's are super reliable, just most of them.

I've never had a car as rock solid reliable as my SRT8 but that is not always the case with them.

I absolutely will trade a bit of reliability for entertainment value any day...

I used to drive Fords, mainly because in the small town I lived in they had an honest dealership that I trusted. But when I bought my first Toyota I didn't know that cars didn't have to break. I thought that a continuously broken car was normal until I met Toyota.

But later I realized that yes, part of that was "Toyota" but part of it was because the particular Toyotas I was buying didn't have a bunch of newfangled gadgets that impacted reliability. Our van doesn't have an electronic instrument panel, nor electric sliding doors, nor anything. That contributes to reliability just as much as the base quality of the vehicle.

A friend bought a newer Sienna with every option including a laser cruise control. The sensor for that control is down near the road and when a rock hits the thing it breaks the cover glass and renders the cruise control inop. I forget the price to replace the sensor but it was a lot of money. Ditto for the motor operated hatch and side doors. Just more things to break and when they do, they aren't cheap to fix.

I used to drive a Toyota but i wanted something more reliable that wouldn't start rattling at 500 miles and have a transmission failure at 15k. So i went down and bought a Ford, two actually. See it goes the other way also. I can say the lowest point of my life was walking into that dealer in the sea of bland and for some reason getting the keys for something with LEGENDARY RELIABILITY. Oh well live and learn

I'm not saying that Toyota's can't have problems. All companies occasionally make lemons, some more than others. Sometimes companies only make lemons and nothing else.

I just find it amusing that you implied that it started rattling at 500 miles. As a matter of fact, I'm still laughing about that.

One thing I can say about Kitacam is that it's tight as a drum...as smooth running as if it came off the showroom floor last week, not 8yrs/100k miles ago...

You found it appropriate (read sane) to name your '05 Camry eh? Interesting.

I just read kitacam's sig.
The dude named his Toyota Camry.
I've seen it all now.
I've gotta admit my charger is pretty tight. I can't imagine it better actually. Its a heavy car that steers like something much lighter, corners like its on rails and drives down the road absorbing every bump transmitting nothing to me until I start manually shifting, then it tightens right up.
I wanted to test the stability control, wheel spin etc.
on gravel roads I can't break the tires loose whatsoever, unless I push the ESP off button. Should be great in winter with proper rubber.
What exactly does a grown man name his 4 door sporty, hemi powered family sedan?

Don't you think this was a bit unfriendly?
Some people name their cats, some people name their cars.
What is a problem with that?

Right now at 115,000 miles i needed to replace my wheel bearings. The only other thing i will need to do down the road is the water pump. So far so good. In general toyota makes much more reliable cars than other brands. Anyone can have a bad experience with a brand its normal.

Wheel bearing replacement. Interesting as I have never had to do that in any vehicle I have ever owned. Any factors that might have lead to their failure?
