Had to replace the leaking valve cover gasket on my 2013 ford fiesta. Took a few pictures of how everything was once I popped the cover off. It's had a mismash of oils throughout its life, usually at 7500 miles OCI, drained oil after the valve cover gasket and put supertech 5w20 back in.

Very good thx for the pictures

Looks great. were all the oils you used full synthetic?
They weren't. Off the top of my head the oils I've used have been the following.
1. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w20
2. Super Tech 5w20 Syn Blend
3. Super Tech 5w20 Synthetic
4. Chevron 5w20 Conventional
5. Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w20
6. Valvoline White Bottle 5w20.

My daughter has a 2013. Great little car, except for the transmission. Hers hasn't hit 100k miles yet and has already needed two valve cover gaskets. Nice to see how well the engine has held up on those types of oils as her car has had a steady diet of quick change oil for it's lifetime.

Is it one of those power shift transmissions? The clean valvtrain is impressive, but an original transmission with that many miles is shocking!
You hit the nail on the head with that one ! The transmission had it's clutches changed out just before 75K. So far so good with it, its a highway car so it doesn't have to do a ton of shifting.

The only way those cars hit 185k is if they are mostly highway. My daughter's had a bunch of very expensive work done to it at about 60k under the class action lawsuit recall. Over 2.5K dollars of work. Hers is a suburban driven short tripper. I'm encouraging her to move on from it as soon as possible. This car with a manual would be sweet.

I did a lot of research on this at the time of the work, and the transmission was only expected to have 150k of utility according to internal Ford documents. Maybe the worst transmission Ford ever put in a modern vehicle. All kinds of damaging evidence came out in the lawsuit. Ford came out of it looking very, very bad.

That's quite an eclectic mix of oils. How much does it use at this point?

Have you done a timing belt yet? Reason for asking is my sister just picked up 14 fiesta with 225k. She spent 2k for it and only codes are P420 cat code. Runs well.

Yeah, I've already done the timing belt. Did belt, water pump, tensioner, and serpentine all at the same time. It's not a bad job, but you'll need to buy a few special tools for the job.

Wasn't the first time and won't be there last . Ford is legendary are put the same flawed parts in year after year. All their hopes and dreams in one not so good truck . Great business model and stock price proves it .
