Reliability? Based upon how many years?

Cars less than 5 years are fairly irrelevant.

Surprised that Ford was ranked so low - thought they were doing good!

I don't really put too much weight on these things anyway.

Toyota didn't drop, it stayed in 2nd place. With Leuxs being 1st. Which is pretty much the same thing. lol

Although I take this article with a grain of salt if they truly think Audi should be #4.

+1. CR has a has a huge credibility problem with everyone except the very naïve.

I had hoped Audi had improved since our last one, but my sister-in-law bought a new A7 about 4 months ago. It has been back for wheel bearings, steering issue (I don't know the details) and now for A/C problems. Right now she has a few thousand miles.

From what I've read, the way CR ranks "reliability" is by the average number of complaints to the dealer within the 1st year of ownership...

I agree lets see what looks good a decade down the road.

+1 I like to see the 100K test where they rip the car apart and examine everything down to the last nut and bolt.

Here they did a 200K test on a Fiat 500. A very inexpensive publication but one of my favorites. Sorry German only.

Wow Ford got slammed ! With the Focus , Fussion , etc. so popular I wonder if quantioty of complaints versus number of cars sold ratio was taken into account ?

Can you sum up what the outcome was?

If they could figure out some way to separate the strictly well maintained cars from the abused ones and give numbers based on that I'd love to see the results.

Maybe some thoughts on interior wear would be nice too. It's interesting to see how some vehicle's interiors hold up to the miles and wear like iron where in others you see buttons with plastic that has been worn through to the point where the emblem that tells you its function is completely gone.

My German is really rusty (never was very good) so Google translate to the rescue.

It translated the summary as follows:

Quote:

Conclusion

The Italian charm and sweet googly eyes can not hide the lack of long-term quality. Engine and transmission loss as well as numerous other defects have only partly to do with the high mileage. Has cost almost 10,000 euros in six years just to repair the Fiat - clearly too much!

Ouch! The Italians are coming... let's hope they're bringing lots of spare parts with them.

In one article it read it was mainly due to issues with My Ford Touch. Makes sense as I heard early versions were very bad and the latest is merely OK.

And they said something very generic like "issues with Ecoboost V6". I've not heard of any showstoppers outside of the F150 condensation issue, which has been resolved.

As always, I take CR with a large grain of salt.

One thing I don't understand it how Audi and Acura can be up at the top but VW and Honda are not near them or at least in the top 5.
