Hello all I am new to the forum. I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma V6 4WD with about 20K on it as of today. I drive about 170 miles a day, mostly highway. Its a to and from trip not constant stop and start throughout the day. My Toyota Care is going to end soon and I wanted to do my own maintenance. What would you recommend as a good brand of oil to use? I was thinking of amsoil or Mobil 1. I am planning on driving this truck till it dies and hoping that will be well after 300K so I really want to put the best product in that I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

either of those is a great choice. if you run Mobil, get the "Extended Protection" version. you can easily run 10k oil change intervals and have no probs getting 300k out of your engine

I'd do the max factory intervals with any syn oil. until warranty is up. 170mi/day is brutal on your pocketbook with gas.. but easy on oil.

After its out of warranty I'd use an extended protection oil and possibly try 15k mile intervals starting at 2nd change and with oil analysis to make sure the oil will last that long in your engine.

A friend has used Motorcraft 5W-20 not 5w30 on his 2010 Taco with 93,xxx miles after he dumped his factory fill at 1K. He runs 7K OCIs. Not a single problem to date. I believe his father runs Pennzoil Conventional 5w30 in his Tundra and it's nearing 280K last time I heard. He's on a 7.5K OCI.
