Hello all I been lurking here for a longtime and every time i registered to post i fiend my answer in the search. but this time i cant seem to fiend it so here i go . i have a 2010 ford focus with a 2.0L had the car since new and it has 75000 mi on it the oil is done every 5k with Valvoline synpower 5w20 and motorcraft filter but what i read i now its great oil but its not a extended drain oil i would like to know what oil can i use to extend my changers i live in ATL ga and i travel to new York 2 times a month and thats 945 mi one way and im doing olf once a month with 6k changers.I know a uoa is the best way to tell if im ok im trying to avoid doing uoa is there another oil that can be used like Mobil 1 ep or pu or pp somthing like that for at lest 12k thank you all...

If it has to be a shelf oil I would say try PU and step it up gradually. If any oil is an option look into Schaefers

I like a 5w30 instead of 5/20. But most members here would say stick with 5/20. Heck try both and see which one gives better wear numbers. I would probably do the first uoa at 7500 and go from there

I'd try Pennzoil Ultra 5W20 or M1 5W20EP and run it 12K and do a UOA. With those sort of highway miles, a UOA at fewer miles than that would be a complete waste, IMO. This engine is easy one oil, no DI, decent sump size, fairly low temps. Just check the oil level and top up as needed. You should really be able to do 15K on either of those oils, easily--particularly if it consumes a little and you can top up.

Calls for UOA's @ 6-7K seems silly to me, since factory intervals typically far exceed that length.

He's got a good point here. It would more than likely be perfectly safe. But the oldschool way of thought was extend gradually till you find how far it can go.

I will go get some pu 5w20 or 5w30 for my next change witch will me in feb with a pur 1 filter

Wow thats a pretty good looking uoa of a blend!!! It could have gone longer!!

Tboss a pureone is a good filter but there are slightly better filters for extended drains.

10-15K isn't out of the question on a good synthetic. TIG1 does 10k mile changes on both of his duratecs with M1 0w-20. I imagine M1 EP would easily be capable of 15.

The 2.0 Duratec is a good, reliable engine and it isn't hard on oil. Personally, I don't like the small size of the FL-910S. Once my warranty is up and I go 10k on oil changes ... I may find myself swapping filters at 5k.

I'd be careful with the auto transmission. Highway miles aren't too bad, but the '10 Focus has a variant of Ford's CD4E transmission which was not all that reliable. Keep the ATF new and put a trans cooler on it!

I would run 5w30 myself in an A5/B5 or Ford 913 A/B/C.

The 2.0 Duratec is a reliable engine and your use is far from severe, nice long journey with oil up to temp is good news for long engine life.

As you might expect I would go for Mobil or Castrol.
