2010 challenger RT

Hey all my mom drives a 2010 challenger RT 5.7 hemi in it and i want to help her out on what oil is best for her driving conditions.
1. my mom isnt hard on her cars and she barely puts 12k miles on in a year she only has about 3 miles to work and back.
2. The only long drives for her are about 40 to 60 miles to visit family once a month maybe she does drive a lil bit on the weekends shopping.
Well the oil is a 5w20 and she will have the dealer change it and she wants to go by the OLM of the car after the first oil change. So what does everyone recommend

With her short trips, I would use Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20. Run an analysis after 5000 miles and see how it is holding up.

Really has nothing to do with what brand of oil you use, just use whatever Chrysler recommends in the manual. FWIW, the car came from the factory with 5W-20 Pennzoil.

OLM should tell the story-def stay with 5-20 in that application

One other option is Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20 or 0w30, if you ever considered a 0w weight.

If it were my car in your moms situation I'd switch over to a synthetic oil in the same weight/5W-20 and change it out every 6 months.

According to Dodge, you need to use 0-20 or 5-20 for the multi-displacement to work correctly in the Hemi.

thanks for the info guys very helpful and i know i need to run the 5w20 to stay within warranty and for the MD hemi to run correctly. This is gonna be her last car for a long time or maybe her last car period. i hope i hear more good recomendations.

What ever oil the dealer uses.

Pennzoil Ultra 5W-20 would be a great choice.

It's the grade Chryco recommends, and according to Pennzoil, it will keep the car 'factory clean' for the life of the engine, if used right from the start.

Yeah, yeah, it's marketing, but it's still a great oil that has some good testing behind it......
