2009 Nissan Rogue Oil filter recommendation

Wow, I always thought Nissan were the most basic of engineering. Approaching 190k in our Juke and running a supertech filter. I've seen Jukes over 300K. Versa/Sentra manuals are the #1 taxis in Mexico now. Rogue must be an outlier for some reason.

Does this for sure fit a Rogue? I oversize my filter in my Toyota, but I know it fits. I wonder if this would get close to the wheel.
if you want a slightly longer filter yes its equivalent to the Fram 7317. its 15 mm's longer over the 65F0A

Thanks. That's helpful. I think I'm going to upsize but just wanted to make sure there was room. The OEM filter is so tiny. Like a lawnmower filter.
Yes they sure are teeny filters. I have a stash of ecogard x4612s same height as a fram 6607 and pg4612s the pg’s have a little more height over the ecogards. I’ll take a picture of the two side by side for comparison. Bonus threw in a photo of a FL-816

Well it's got a high volume oil pump and it's a big moderate output 2.5L DOHC. My version had solid tappets.

I live in a cold - but not killer cold region in Southern NH

Winter starts and warmup drives ripped 2 pleats open on a quality $14 dollar FILTECH filter (I had posted pics)

And also, like a couple guys here, I had a long startup rattle on the Mexican made (Grupo Gonher) NISSAN
filters as the ADBV would fail by "inverting" and allowing drain back.

Simple parts like a filter should work; This is maddening, frustrating stuff .

I’ve had 3 filters total and back to back gohners fail on my 09 Altima and 18 rogue. Shockingly the same filters, from the same case, have never failed on my 21 or 24 Altima. I still won’t use them though after that.

Well I just paid $9/filter at Advance Auto so I'd say that's a good deal!

Is this another Premium Guard XL rebadge? Who makes this filter?
I haven’t used this brand looks equal to a PG or ecoguard I wouldn’t mind though.

I would say no, based on the construction. Similar, but looks different. Plus Renken isn't a brand under the PG umbrella.

Pure ones, boss and Bosch are filters I’ve ran a bunch with never a rattle. Fram has been hit and miss with the ultra, yet the orange can has never made a sound. Although I’ve only ran a couple. I did use that mahle filter from Nissan on my 21. Nitrile adbv, that aside they were a good filter for 7500k

It seems only way winter starts could explain your observations is if the oil pump had no regulator.

A cold start is a very low-flow condition. Because the oil is thick, it very slowly flows through clearances. This causes the positive displacement oil pump to slam open the regulator almost instantly when oil pressure is achieved. The majority of the pump’s flow ends up recirculating inside the pump.

The filter briefly sees the pressure spike that opens the regulator. Then it just sees regulated pressure and very low flow. The media of course is only seeing the delta P if cold oil, which due to the extremely low flow, is at a minimum.

Topic 09 Rogue, 99.9% sure, ~.5" longer 7317 and equivalent applications will fit just fine. In fact, 'personally' never seen a Nissan including those OM specing the shorty 6607 where the longer application did work. I did read where one member with newer generation Sentra had a hose obstruction that could prevent use of the 7317.

I would avoid the Gonher made Nissan OEM. Including my own, multiple c&p show an adbv defect which with use allows adbv collar to slide off its position and migrate down the outlet flange. In addition to no adbv function, allows for oil bypass too.

As an aside, I feel for owners of newer Nissan (since ~2020-21+) doing diy oil change. The entire splash shield must be removed to access the drain plug and filter. That involves removing ~20 cheap plastic push pin clips and a couple bolts each time.

That splash shield is the worst. I can change oil on my 18 in as long as it takes to drain. When I do our 21 and 24, I set and drink 2 beers staring at it , trying to motivate myself to tackle that shield. At least the 2.5 doesn’t have to deal with the plastic oil pan that has a 60% chance of stripping everytime.
