I've owned the vehicle since it was new and this is the 1st time I've replaced the transmission fluid so I assume it is Honda's OEM fluid. See differential fluid in separate post.

The zeros are not universal averages for a UOA; they are the expected levels for a VOA. It's not really helpful to see these side-by-side for wear metals, but you can look at the additives. Mola is much more adept at the add-pack than I am.

The UOA here shows nice wear overall. Keep in mind this is factory fill after 28k miles in a tranny. There is break-in here, so it clouds the view, so to speak. I would expect the next UOA to show much less wear metals. And frankly, these are pretty darn good even with break-in particulate included.

Thanks for posting this. This should be Z1 fluid, from a 2009 model. Honda has traditionally used a high concentration of zinc, at least for an ATF, and this fluid is no different.

It has sheared quite a bit, from a starting hot viscosity of about 7.5 or so.

It would be very interesting to see how the DW-1 fluid works, if a UOA is taken in another 30,000 miles.

I'm probably going to do the next few changes for all my vehicles with an interval of 15,000 miles for differentials and auto transmissions and 10,000 miles or 2 years for the manual transmissions. In addition to the CRV, I changed out manual trans fluid in my S2000 (@ 11,180 miles since new), my M5 (@30,500 miles since new) and my daughters Civic at 48,000 miles since new. I also changed out the differential fluid in the M5 and S2000. My othher daughter's Honda Fit had the auto trans fluid changed out by a local dealer earlier this year.

The local Lag here (Agat) offered to do a VOA on the Dual Pump II fluid I have left over from the CRV and I may just drop it off with them assuming it's on thier dime as I find it hard to believe they don't have this information on file.
