You realize that Carfax says it was a rental car in Hawaii? So probably less highway miles. I would certainly buy a Fusion, but avoid a rental car, even if the non-rental car had more miles. In fact the high number of Fusions in rental fleets should hold down the price of all Fusions, making them a good deal. One of the "american" cars (built in Mexico) that goes toe to toe with the "japanese" cars (built in the US)
Yes, I saw that. Im not sure what to think of that other than the fact it was exposed to salty air, but for such a short period of time Im sure the anticorrosion did its job.
We have not seen it yet. Its over 150 Miles away.
Im going to be over there Sunday for a Crown Vic meet, so Ill check it out, even if she cant get off work to come with.
You know, I went through the list and opened all the free CarFax reports. All except one was a rental, and that one was a business fleet with reported moderate right front damage.

If it was in hawaii, don't worry about corrosion. Despite the salty air, cars there never seem to rust out really.
Just about every 09 or 10 car for sale will be a former rental...All our Panthers were former rentals when we got them a year old...Usually it comes with a 7 year or 70K mile warranty when they are certified like ours were and most likely the Fusion is...Even when I got my 88 Town Car a year old it was a former rental...It was listed as a Ford Executive car...I kept that car till 300K miles...As long as it was serviced regularly I do not see a issue with that car...I would take it on a nice highway run and have a independent give it a quick look in case there is something up with it that you don't see.
Go for it - it's a very reliable car from what I hear from 2 friends that own 2008 and 2009 models.

IMHO the price is right for the V6 Fusion as long as it comes with the power train warranty [6-7 years 70-75K miles]...It looks awesome.

Real good price.
To me, the Fusion is the dumbed down version of the Mazda 6.
Same platform, same engine design, same transmission.
But being that your mom is going to be driving it, she probably won't miss the 6's Active-Matic gear selector. ( the Fusion has Park Reverse Neutral and Don't even think of selecting your own gear)
It's also doesn't handle as well, but it is quieter and smoother.
In my opinion, the Fusion is the best of the big 3's cars in that class and not just because my car shares it's platform and that price is less than what I paid for my 6 with about 20,000 miles on it 4 years ago by about $600

The car you are looking at is not a certified pre-owned vehicle. For such a newer car, I would expect it to be certified...and it isn't, which would make me avoid it.

Yeah, my Mom Im sure wont miss the manual gear selector. She drives a manual now, but she shifts when the light tells her to, so its not like she is gaining anything there.
Did it come with the certified power train warranty till 75K miles?
No.
I think it will work out OK...Down here the 08 V6 Fusion is going 19K with 25K miles on them.
