LOL. Hardly; 169k on it, and the sump was nearly empty when I bought it. Just a testament to how using the right oil for the application makes all the difference...

Hmmm, well I would try the HM variety but I have years and years of vanilla M1 stashed already. It's fine as I am used to frequent oil level inspections. On the bright side, the top-offs keep it fresh with plenty of acid defense.

Maxlife red bottle stopped my Honda's oil thirst.

1996 Camry V-6 332,000 miles, OCI appx. 6,500 miles: usually down appx. 1/4 qt. between changes. Mobil-1 10W-40. 2008 Tacoma 4WD, 4 cyl. 108,000 mi. 5,500 mi. OCI. No usage between changes. Mobil-1 TDT 5W-40. 2015 Subaru Forester Turbo 42,000 mi. OCI 6,000 miles. No oil usage, Mobil-1 5W-30 (still in warranty). 2015 F-350 4x4: 12,500 miles: OCI as determined by dashboard monitor. 1 change so far, dealer changed, using Motorcraft 15W-40, no oil usage. I love Mobil-1. When the Ford & Subaru are out of warranty, I'll consolidate all 4 vehicles to using M-1 TDT 5W-40. BTW, when the old '96 had around 300,000 I changed both valve cover gaskets (oil seepage) & the interior valvetrain areas were totally clean. Looked brand new! And the 3.0 L 20 year old engine is 'supposed' to be the sludge monster. Testimony to Toyota, to Mobil and to regular maintenance.

I wondered what had gotten into you. You did not appear to be your normal amiable self and I responded in kind.
No worries!
Might want to try the M1 HM with the current MIR.
You do have until the end of May to wait for the right deal.

Wal Mart is my best bet or....

In the one Camry that I maintain, a 2010 model with 2.5 liter engine, 150,000 miles on the odometer, I use Pennzoil Ultra 0W-20 for the duration of the oil life monitor. The car seems to consume no oil and does well according to the owner.

I replaced the oil pan at 120,000 miles due to damage and the bottom end of the engine was spotless.

Good to see you posting.

I will go against the grain and recommend PP or PU 5w30. These oils has very good cleaning abilities especially in the piston and ring area, As it does its ting you may even see consumption increase for a OCI or two but once the rings get a better seal it will subside.
IMHO this is more inline with addressing the problem rather than the symptom, if it doesn't work out it cost you nothing more and can use the Maxlife anyway but the engine will be a bit cleaner.

Thank you Trav:). I was reading older posts about PP/PU SM oils doing good at cleaning

Didn't get Magnatec at advance. What 5w20 Magnatec and 5w30 I sold already. Now I have some MSHM 10w40 which I probably won't use

I vote for using your stash oil and changing the PCV and keeping the OCI reasonable at 5k. If it isn't using badly by now with the previous owners maintenance plan on likely bulk dino it probably won't accelerate with anything you have in your stash.

Do you change oil brand every OCI or use same brand the past 2-3 changes? Going from Pennz to Mobil from one change to next does that on mine. I would keep using what you currently use at least 2-3 changes in a row and see if it drops off.. Then swap pcv and monitor again. Process of elimination
