Good afternoon folks. I must apologize for yesterday as yes, few family members aren't doing well. Anyways, sorry if I came off half cocked. I note that my 09' Camry seems to use about 1/8 quart every 2,000~ miles. I'm waiting the OEM pcv valve and valve cover seems to have a lil' weep on corner.

Here's what I'm thinking:
Maxlife 5w30
MS HM 5w30
Pennzoil HM 5w30

Open to suggestions and thank you beforehand

if you have to measure the oil consumption in less than 1/2 quart increments you dont have an issue. Your oil consumption is a quart every 16000 miles?

Well, I went 4K after I got the car and checked the oil at the 3k mark and I was down 1/8 quart. Not burning oil that I can see.

Find something serious to concern yourself with.

Many times the consumption isn't linear. I remember one time not using any oil until I hit the 7k mark on some MC syn-blend. I forget if it was the 5w20 or the 5w30. Between 7000-7500 it used a half quart. I changed it at 7500 miles.

I'd use some Castrol Magnatec 5w30 for $19 and change at WM.
As far as Valvoline goes either Maxlife would be my choice with them, 5w30.
Then there's good ole Pennzoil, prob syn-blend Gold 5w30 High Mileage.

Yesterday I picked up a free jug of Castrol Edge EP 10w30 at Walmart via coupon from Castrol.

So glad I can't see pops reply

Thanks for the info, may try Maxlife

IF you go ML, I'd opt for the syn-blend version. Aka, red bottle. At least they haven't changed their packaging like Penn with their ugly bottles/jugs.

I'm at 1000 miles on my SW2, and have yet to add any with Mobil 1 in the sump.

Maxlife seems to be a crowd favorite here, so I say start there.

you aren't driving 9 million miles (extended drain intervals) between changes, correct?

Maxlife would be a good choice.

One of my brothers is a HVAC tech. He takes his work van to a Valvoline Instant Oil Change. His old van did better when they switched to Maxlife.

Consider M1 HM.
With the MIR, you can get it dirt cheap.
It has been effective in curbing leaks and consumption in a family beater '99 Legacy AWD 2.2 wagon.
I've always had good experience with Maxlife SB as well.
Either should help although you really aren't seeing much consumption with this Camry.
Me, I start to worry at a quart in 2K.

Run that maxlife all day long, and sleep soundly.

unrelated, I'm saddened to hear you've got family going through it. If you need to vent, feel free to DM me.
