I drained off a portion of the factory fill this afternoon and used Amsoil ATF for the refill. First impression: Amsoil ATF shifts better in my opinion that the Z1 does. Granted I still have predominantly Z1 in the system right now, but I can tell a difference. The shift quality with Amsoil is ever so slightly more firm, but in a good way. This is most evident when switching from Park to Reverse. The transmission also seems to be more quiet. I still have a couple more drain and fills to go but the initial results look very promising.

One other thing, if smell is any indicator of how potent Amsoil ATF is then this stuff should last forever. My wife got a little peeved because the kitchen smelled like oil after I washed out my funnel and measuring cup. Amsoil ATF smells very strong when compared to normal ATF. Just trying to keep the rest out you out of the dog house!

One other quick thing. This transmission has 2,060 miles on it and there was already a layer of metallic sludge on the magnetic drain bolt. I believe that it was a good move to dump the factory fill because it will allow me to see how the drain bolt looks now that I am converting to Amsoil. For informational purposes I caught a sample of the Z1 factory fill and will be sending it off to BSL at some point this week. I will post the UOA when testing is complete.
