2006 Chevy Equinox AWD

My aunt has a 06 equinox that recently went a wall on her. She was driving and the check engine light came on, soon after the Traction control light went on as well as the low performance light. (check engine light with a down arrow inside the engine). Now after this came on she wasnt able to accelerate, well she could but the car was going about 3-5 mph even if u floored it. She of u rever and drive its the same thing. But she pulled over and turned off the car and back on and went back to normal, when she told me I was like whatt??? So I test drove it and it happened to me too. Any idea on how to fix this or where to start looking for answers to find a solution

Maybe the drive by wire throttle body?

I had one of the same year model.

I took mine to the dealer and shortly after getting it back got rid of it and bought another vehicle.

People have had a failed coil/ignition system component do the same thing.

You need to scan the codes.

Yeah, the usual trolls showed up.

Sounds like a bad speed sensor. It sounds like the car has Stabilitrak, and I believe a bad speed sensor will cause this condition and I don't believe a generic code scanner will pull the codes.

I did have this happen when one had a failed ABS sensor. The customer demanded that we just replace pads and rotors, and no matter what explanation we gave her, it wasn't enough.

I suggest:
1. Go to Autozone or another part store and get a free reading.
2. If their code reader can't detect what's happening, you need a pro with a very special scan tool.
3. If item 2 is needed, get ready to pay a large sum of money for the repair.
