Good Morning To All,

I adventured out yesterday changing the oil in my mini van from M1 5/30 to QS Ultimate Durability 5/30; also changed from a Puralator Pure 1 filter to a Fram Tough Guard. I change the oil in the van every 6 months, which is only about 2,500 miles, it's my wife's vehicle.

I picked up the QS for about $20 for 5 quarts, and the filter was $6.

From what I've read on the board the QS is a good oil, first time to use it though. I am curious to see if I will have to add any oil between changes. With the M1, I needed to add about 4 to 6 oz's between changes.

Any QS veterans out there?

2500 miles in 6 months? That's about half of what I would run an API SN synthetic like QSUD.

Grab the Quaker State advanced durability (green bottle) if you're dumping good oil every 6 month.

It's a very, very good oil. With your mileage though you could change just once a year with conventional green bottle. Look at the PQIA 5w20 results. GB would have been the darling if PYB hadn't messed up the curve.

You made a good choice and got a decent value with the 5 qts of QSUD

The FRAM TG is a decent filter from the cutopens that I have viewed here!

The manual calls for oil changes at 3 months for severe service, 6 months for non-severe, regardless of mileage. Not certain why, but that's the info from the book.

So I go 6 months, and it's always around 2,500 miles; mostly streets as my wife uses it to run errands, etc. Does see some freeway time also.

I don't like waste, but if that's what the engineers who built the car say, I guess it's best to follow.
