I have a 2002 MDX, 147000, that has started slipping in 2nd gear.
I flushed the system with ATF-Z1.

It is much better, but is still slipping.
1) is there any additive that is compatible with ATF-Z1
2) Could an additive like lucas do more harm than good

The dealership wants $4800 to repair

$4800.00 for what to replace the car??
$2500.00 max ...But im an engine guy i don't do transmissions.. I do know someone else that had a transmission issue on a mdx and that is what she paid with my repair shop discount and that included doing everything not only what needs to be done hers had 101,000 miles it started slipping at first then eventually it needed an overhaul

I believe the 2002 MDXs fall in the category where they've had transmission issues. My buddies 2002 MDX just went out 2 months ago with about 75K on it.

AutoRX is the good product to try in this transmission, the cost of a couple bottles + shipping is less than $100 and it may be able to cure the slipping. I would try AutoRX first before costly re-built.

+1 does not hurt to spend $27 or so on a bottle of ARX just in case its a contamination related issue. Just be prepared to replace or rebuild this transmission. If the ARX extends its life a bit more, bonus!

I'm having a slipping issue right now in a 99 TL. Just found out its most likely a burnt/worn clutch pack. FUN! Just how I want to spend my weekend, rebuilding a honda transmission!FML
