Fsskier, a member here, used M1 0-20 in his mid 90's Escort with 300K, at 20K OCIs.

Picked up rotella t5 10w30 for 2.5 gallons on sale for 40 bucks seems like a good oil to pick. Not partially 0w20 light but can be thinned if needed with marvel mystery oil.

Forget the MMO. It will thin out the oil, but also dilute the additives.

That T5 will be fine for summer use. 0w-30 in the winter.

Right.
Cause that's a great idea.

You are aware that MMO being mostly solvent will evaporate leaving the oil right back at whatever grade it started at.
I've heard many whoppers since I've been a member here however this is one of the very best I've read.
And I've got an inverse oiler installed on my charger and now my C3. I like the stuff when used properly.
Thinning the oil with it just to thin the oil isn't even close to smart.

OP: No offense, but judging from your signature ("2002 Escort 0W40 Mobil 1 Euro") you seem to be stuck in the warm fuzzies in regards to your oil choices. M1 Euro formulation in a Ford Escort? Its a naturally aspirated Ford.. not a turbo charged Audi.

You asked for advice. People gave it to you then you went with an HDEO? What are you trying to gain by this?

I can understand wanting a quality synthetic so if that's what you want, M1 or PP 5w20 will work. If you still want to overdue it, M1 EP or Pennzoil Ultra will work too. Get a quality filter, make sure your air filter is clean/ good and just drive. My .02

5w-20 and a FL-400S at 5k mile intervals and that engine will last forever. If you do 90% highway driving go 10k. If you want something exotic go M1 0w-30. No need for Euro oils. The engine is not very stressed. You must have a 2.0 Zetec. It's making 130hp max. In '03 they did some tuning for more power.

Save your money for tie-rods and tires. That's all my 2003 ZX-2 ever needed. That and brakes at 100k miles.

The Zetec was a very good, long lasting motor which didn't need anything special (oilwise).....5w20, 5w30, 0w20, 0w30 etc....
0w40 is a bit on the thick side in this application but would probably work....

The HDEO will be for the spring through mid fall and mobil 1 0w30 maybe Platinum ultra 5w20 will be through out winter.
