Note that copper extremely high in both samples however, based upon mileage on second sample (about 12,000) the copper dropped considerably over the OEM fill in the first sample. Second oil was Amsoil 10W30 first sample was OEM fill.
I am on a 12,000 mile change cycle with a filter at 6000. Lots of highway on this one

I don't have reported the Vis, TBN or Grade. Didn't pay the extra price to obtain it.
OEM was unknow brand of oil

Amsoil is the synthetic 25,000 mile stuff, not the XL7500 series.

Oil consumption, since new, is around 2-3 ounces every 1000 miles, minimal.

What else would you like to know?

I assume that is a 3.8L? Anyway my son's 01 GrandAm with a 6K oil change was very similar. Copper was 97 ,Iron 41, Lead 9, and Silicon also high at 59. It would appear that GM uses lots of anti-sieze/silicon. Your high Copper makes me feel better-again suspecting its in the manufacture and not the crank thrust brg.

how much makeup oil is used to top off the 6,000 mile filter change?

The problem with oil analysis that fails to report visc/sus/cst's and or oxidation/nitration levels leave a big blank on the actual condition of the base oil. The only thing you re seeing here is the additive levels, and wear#'s. How can you determine if your oil is out of grade (ie..a 10w30 sheared down to a 20wt like found in some toyotas and such).

I'd expect that any oil analysis report should provide you with at least the visc levels, and hopefully with oxidation levels.

I realize that a tbn level is more expense and most don't need it. My question though is what good is an oil analysis if you don't know the basic condition of your base oil so to tell if you can step up or lower your milage drain intervals? I guess if you have low wear #s then your ok, but it is nice to see the overall picture.

If they charge extra for that basic, I'd like to know what they charge for what you have gotten and what are the extra expenses for a more complete report with out the tbn#? You know something?, don't bother answering that here, Lets start another thread on oil anlaysis labs report info provided and the costs.

Yes the 3.8L V6 Supercharged engine
4 quarts 20 ounces with filter change is required

22 ounces of oil are added with the filter change at 6,000 miles. As noted, consumption is about 2-4 ounces/1000 miles.
