Good data stream! You're nearly to a point where true, real stdev can be understood. 26 samples; only 4 more to go! So far, it's not too bad for those old Essex 3.8L engines. They are not the most long-lived as a species, but yours seems to be doing OK. In fact, all the wear metals are fairly typical from a macro sense. These engines just shed more metals than others. Here's your wear data in terms of ppm/1k miles: (note - I took out the FF data because it was skewing the rest) avg; stdev 2.9; 3.9 IRON 0.0; 0.0 CHROMIUM 0.1; 0.1 NICKEL 0.6; 1.1 ALUMINUM 1.4; 14.7 COPPER 0.4; 1.0 LEAD I again caution ... you're a few samples shy of meaningful statistical stability in terms of stdev, but you're far closer than most anyone else I've seen on BITOG. You cannot state which of the oil products did best, because the number of samples for each choice are far too few, but overall, you can assess the general health of the engine, and know it's true nature of variation once the 30th sample is complete. Keep it up!

Pure [censored] (MHO). You have no way of knowing if the Lab testing method changed over time (a secret that a lab probably keeps closely guarded), repeated seasonal diviations (i.e. 2 summers -Vs- 1 fall, winter, spring, or driving habits (hwy/city). Those are major deviations that you simply can't measure honestly and do affect oil wear. Just saying IMO...
