2000 5.9litre low compression

This is the second vehicle I have had low compression turning on the CEL. Cyl 1 on this dodge with 130,000 miles is 100psi, while the cyl 3 is 150psi. I looked in the cyl with a borescope and saw carbon, I am suspect that I have a stuck ring pack and we are using unocal 5w30 oil. Since this is the second truck that I have had a problem with I am suspect of this oil, and the compression came up with adding a tablespoon of oil in the hole. I have tried using Top Engine cleaner aerosol in the plug hole with no luck, now I am looking to use Seafoam in the oil. Anyone have this problem before on a Dodge and have Seafoam fix it.

Any help would be appreciated. I am using AutoRx in my car but this fleet car needs an immediate fix to get it back on the road.

Seafoam is going to cook out in about a day. Maybe if you suck it in through the vacuum line on a warm engine and let it sit there it will help, but that's mostly going to clean your combustion chambers.

Try some Mopar combustion chamber cleaner first. Then change oil and spark plugs. Then run some Auto-Rx. That's what I did to my '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2L 318ci. Made a world of difference on my Jeep. You can get that combustion chamber cleaner at any Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Plymouth dealership.

Buy a gallon of Lube Control and a bottle of Auto-Rx. Soak pistons over night with a 2-3 onces of Lube COntrol in each cylinder. Turn engine over to spread lube and let sit over night. Add 16 onces of Lube control to the oil and run it for 15-20 minutes. Drain out the old oil and lube control. Add fresh Delvac 15W40 or Delo 15W40 and bottle of Auto-Rx. Drive it for 1800 miles and then drain. Refile with fresh oil for rinse phase. Once the rinse phase is done use nothing lighter then 10W30 and preferable CI-4 rated to prevent top ring fill. I would continue to use Lube Control at the maintence dosage.

The above procedure or some version of it has been used by many on this site with great results. If this dose not do it for the engine nothing short of a tear down will!
