Since I started adding TC-W3 and a bit of MMO to my gas, I have noticed a few times I would get a puff of blue smoke on cold engine start.
I added 1 ounce of 2 stroke to five gallons and an ounce of MMO to thin it out and wash it down into the tank. I usually added after filling when I got home.
But when I did add at the gas station before filling, the next cold start was smokey.
I think I found the reason. The fill pipe is level for about 4 feet, making it possible for the oil to just lay in the pipe and get washed into the tank at the next fill. So if I add it after filling, and then when I fill the next time, there's a double dose going in.
It doesn't seem to get mixed in unless added when filling.
Just my 2 cents.

I add mine at the gas station first then pump the gas in, it mixes in best when done that way.

Always add before filling. Do a rough estimation based on the miles driven and your typical fuel mileage to determine how many gallons you will be adding. It should get you close enough.
