Smoke on cold start after adding Techron Complete (USA) - Audi CREC 3.0

My Wife's 2019 4M Audi Q7 3.0T is suffering from the dreaded oil consumption issue (now 1Qt/500 mi). The current advice on this is a Berryman B12 piston soak precedure. As preparation for this procedure, I added USA Techron Complete (1 oz per gallon) to here tank at last fill-up.
The next morning at cold start, there was an unusual amount of smoke and chemical odor. Subsequent starts that day seemed "normal"

Is this typical? What causes it?

Are your sure it's not the turbo which is leaking oil? Especially if the "smoky" start was done after vehicle had sat for a few days.

Pretty sure, because in spite of the name, this engine is supercharged and not turbocharged.

Does it smoke every morning?
Has it smoked on subsequent mornings?

The Techron is added to the gas tank. It should only directly affect components of the fuel system. I never noticed a chemical smell whenever I used it, but I just poured in the small bottle. Maybe you have a higher concentration in your gas than I had. It's going to burn and come out the tailpipe, so that makes sense that it smells different.
