2 dz Eggs a Week

Crestor is working well for me. Genetics play a huge role in my cholesterol. My mother was near 300 and my grandmother was over 450!

My diet is decent, not perfect, and I exercise regularly… lots of stairs, biking, HIIT etc. My cholesterol went from 270 to 140 in mere weeks. My HDL has always been good at least, so even though the overall number was high, the ratios weren’t the worst in the world when it was 270.

I took a few months to do a hard cleanse of my diet a couple years ago to try and get the numbers down on their own. The results were negligible, unfortunately, hence, the Crestor.

Must be why I can no longer find Brazil nuts for sale anywhere. Same thing with Hazelnuts, except now they make that chocolate stuff out of them these days.
 
20mg daily of Crestor for 3 months brought me down from 229 to 137 and increased HDL 13 points. The doctor reduced my dosage to 10mg and I’ll re-test . Diet has almost no impact on my cholesterol.
I'll bet eggs would.
The choline in eggs is what they say 95% of Americans are deficient in.

Many people eat 2 or 3 Brazil nuts a day for selenium (which is a master antioxidant mineral) but if you eat 3 eggs a day you get plenty of selenium.

Personally I don't believe Brazil nits would lower cholesterol at all.
That sounds like a bizarre claim to me. Nutrition Facts is, IIRR, a vegan website owned by Dr Greger.

Correct. He's an M.D. PhD so it's not like crappy advice from a an NP, PA or Chiropractor. He does meta-analysis of medical studies and rules out any special interests etc etc. It's pretty good science on his part.

I don't care what his credentials are. I've been into whole foods nutrition for 40 years (not that it really matters) but I don't fall for his claim that "eating 3 Brazil nuts a month will lower your cholesterol." How could it? It doesn't even make sense. Feel free to post links to articles that back up his claims.

Just because an MD or PhD had more schooling doesn't mean they can't make bizarre claims that are far from factual. AAMOF I'd be more inclined to take the advice of Dr Berg, Dr Hyman, and other youtube posters over someone like Dr Greger. But to each his own. I follow an MD named Dr Steven R Gundry, FYI. But in the end, I eat what I want. If I were a vegan perhaps I'd take Dr Greger more seriously. IMHO only someone gullible would believe a claim like "eating 3 Brazil Nuts a month will lower your cholesterol."

Just because an MD or PhD had more schooling doesn't mean they can't make bizarre claims that are far from factual. That's the great thing about Dr. Greger at least, he backs up his claims with studies and he makes sure to point out if there are any financial conflicts / sponsors / statistical errors. No one is asking anyone to "believe" in any dietary model, that's why the science is put to the test in the studies which then support the claim in the title.

I was just putting it out there as a response to some poor guy popping statins. Try eating some brazil nuts, how could that possibly hurt. It's not like I'm telling him to stop the statins. I'm not against medicine, I know multiple doctors who actually refer Dr. Greger's work to their patients. Of course if you are too far gone then changing diet won't make much difference but it's a start.

Dr. Hyman, family medicine, at least he went to medical school unlike Dr. Berg, if you are referring to Eric Berg D.C. that is. Berg is a chiropractor who confuses people with the term "doctor" and was not taught in the medical model. He regurgitates common medical advice and by the grace of YouTube's algorithm has become famous, lets hope he doesn't screw it up.

I have Brazil nuts right now but I eat so many eggs that I'd get too much selenium, if I also ate Brazils. For now eggs are my cholesterol medicine.

Dr Berg seems to be caught up in the popularity of his youtube posts, plus he's making lot of money from it, maybe even more than his chiropractor work. I don't take him too seriously., It seems like he loves to rake in the $$$ from his youtube videos. Some of them get over 1M views.
I have nothing against Dr Greger, it's just that his claim about Brazil nuts / selenium may not pertain to people who don't follow his way of eating. I seem to benefit from eggs, fatty fish, and grass fed beef liver.

Dr Gundry pioneered the low lectin diet. It's made a huge difference in my regularity. The lectins were clogging up my plumbing.

If the food you eat is not responsible for your cholesterol levels, then what is?
I believe it's genetics. I'll use myself as an example. I'm 46, overweight, and eat quite a bit of red meat. Yet when I had my cholesterol checked a few months ago, it was 129 (it's always been right around there).
 
Wish we had a Hardee’s or Burger King in my little town. Even a KFC would be a big improvement. McDonalds, for fast food, is my only choice.

Sad, but you can go to a local diner and get REAL food, and much better, for about the same price! Gonna cost you about $10 for a decent meal here, either way.
