Hello everyone! First thread so forgive me if this is not right. 🤞🏼. I am needing someone that is knowledgeable to explain to me what the sawtooth looking track does on the power seat assembly out of a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. I am wanting to retrofit a set of them into my 1959 Country Sedan. Without that sawtooth looking thing, I could make them work. Please help.

I believe it’s the notches for the standard manual seat that came in lower trim levels of your car.
I appreciate the response, but that doesn't make any sense to me. Why would the track for manual seats be integrated into the power seat units. Also, I dont see where you could put a handle for adjustments. These were the fancy do everything seats. Including the recline.

IDK & I don’t know these cars inside-out.
I could probably take a decent guess as to why the did it this way. And I may be right, I may be crazy, but it’s most likely for cost/convenience.

They did that because it was cheaper to manufacturer universal seat rails.
