An oil I didn`t see on the list,Mobil 1 High Mileage. It`s supposed to have 1100ppm of zddp. Here`s what Mobil said:

Or use Z-Rod from Amsoil.
Consider an additive to get the oil ZDDP [zinc] levels up to where they were when the car was made.
Or maybe Lubro Moly additive - I use it.
HDEO can work pretty good, like a 15-40.

Does your 77 Corvette have 12,000 original miles or is that just 12k on the engine?
Sort of sounds like 12,000 miles on the car... Was that model year de-tuned for emissions?
12K on the car. Family member bought it last year and has yet to change the oil. It's a show car, all original minus a custom paint job and pin stripes. I know next to nothing about classic cars and oil needs other than modern oil = bad.
15W-40 or 20W-50 is what I'd put in it.
15w-40 should be fine.
Modern oil is VERY good.
EXCEPT for older or high performance engines with hot cams and high spring pressure.

good 10w30 w/ 4oz Redline break-in additive to get +450/+550 Phos/Zn
Valvoline VR1. Most zinc that you'll get from an off the shelf oil, and it's under 5 bucks a quart. No reason to look harder or spend more.

30 weight max-this is a low output motor turning low max rpms-and max rpms (? 5000 ?)--we are talking about 185 hp max here--probably NEVER happen. Absolutely no need for a heavy 15-40-- it was never the recommended weight in the owners manual. 5-30 or 10-30 will do fine-how about Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 with one half bottle of ZDDPlus additive ?
