You always wanted to own and drive a Corvette. You get on Cargurus and find a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with 22000 miles. The previous owner is a 79 year old man and this was his retirement car. Unlike the previous owner you plan on driving it hard and maybe even taking it to the dragstrip.

When you get it home your plan is to take it to the mechanic to change all the fluids. You open the hood and discover a supercharger!

My question is what oil and what viscosity comes to mind when you see a 600 horsepower supercharged Corvette? The viscosity on the oil cap is 5w30.

I don't have a personal recommendation but you'll get plenty here.
When most people ask, "what oil to run in their vehicle", we can tell them to run just about any brand/grade that their owner's manual will allow for...I mean, I even have a car that is special to me(see/click on signature) but, she doesn't require anything special for oil.
However this in not your situation or others like you. You certainly want to run something special in that baby especially if you'll be driving it the way you mentioned in your post.
Please show more pictures! ;)

Congrats & good luck.

10-40 or 5-50.

If you care about what GM says, they updated the reqs for these to DexosR 0w40 for street removing 5w30 and used a new oil cap. They kept their Mobil 1 15w50 track recommendation in the manual. Lots of LT1/LT4 owners are using Mobil 1 Supercar 0w40 which is DexosR. Mobil 1 Supercar also have a 5w50 DexosR offering that is popular for Corvettes.

What oil temperatures are you seeing?

That picture is all over the web in numerous places. Are you considering the vehicle for purchase? I'd be skeptical if that's the picture they are using on a sales site.

My mind skips to 5w50 and it would have to be a premium label like SuperCar. Yeah would look at Redline and Amsoil. Not sure what GM engineers were thinking with the w30 oils. Someone who buys this thing might want to drive it hard. Mobil came up with the oil for the Vette with their SuperCar line.

So this thread is just a thought exercise?
There needs to be a new rule on this Forum, only ask Oil questions on a car you have already bought and not on a car that you are thinking about buying.
I will be starting a thread soon about a 2021 Genesis G90 with a 5.0 Engine that makes about 420 Horsepower, my dad already has the car. There are many oils that I want to compare and see what members have to say.

Sounds great.

I’ll stick with my contention that if that picture is from a vehicle sales listing then it’s a fake listing.
