1970 VW Beetle

My aunt has decided to sell her beloved 1970 VW Beetle. After her 3rd neck surgery 3 weeks ago, it just isn’t realistic for her to keep.

It was professionally restored, more of a resto-mod, in 12/2021 and garaged since.

It’s been a great car for the almost 12 years we’ve had it. Lots of maintenance done by a local VW shop that does great work. Such as a new clutch, tune-up, ignition coil, rubber brake hoses, master cylinder, front disc brakes, alternator (no generator) etc.

For the restoration it was completely stripped down to bare metal inside and out and painted a newer VW color “Yellow Rush”. Bluetooth Alpine stereo, PPI amp and speakers, Rockford Fosgate 10” subwoofer, and a custom made amp mount/speaker tray. Pop out rear windows, new upholstery, carpet, headliner, visors, and soundproofing. New shocks, slightly lowered in the front, and lots of little details like a custom USB charger in the ashtray, LED lights, and HID headlights.

Engine is a stock 1500SP and it runs fantastic. Has never not started right up all these years. Have a matching spare wheel too. Also have the original vented 2-slot engine lid painted Yellow Rush to match.

Sad to see it go, it’s been such a good little car. $15k OBO.

Looks like painted mid-seventies bumpers. If you were keeping it the old style bumpers or “nerf” style would keep it correct-cool also.

Very nice VW, I had a 72 Beetle when I was a teenager and kept it into my 40’s.

There's one little corner of yard askew near the left speaker.
And, is the shifter knob supposed to be a fishing bobber or is it just red and white?
No AC has to be a biggie in AZ, no?

Very nice car, very nicely done.
For $15K somebody will snap this one up quickly.
If I were anywhere near you I might. Not a lot of money for a very nice turn-key car.

Very nice! Having said that, the engine compartment was left comparatively lacking cosmetically to the rest of the car.

That’s a nice bug. Good luck selling it. I did a groundup rotisserie restoration on a 1958 Cabriolet. They are fun cars to drive. .

I had a 1970 VW convertible. Bought new for $2000. Had it for 10 years. I put a new top on it…that’s quite a job! Those tops are not just a sheet of vinyl.

I knew there was something odd about those front fenders! Good catch!
My favorite years were all the small tail light cars. The '67 was the 1st 12v system as I recall.
The 66 1300 introduced cam bearings. Great cars!
