I know it is just television, but my point is that it wasn't really very good television. I don't really know who Chip Foose is, but there seemed to be an awful lot of egos involved, and not too much else by way of entertainment value or coherence.
I'm sure the people who submitted to the show were happy about the whole thing. If he wants to customize a pile of rust and the owner's happy about it, who am I to argue?
But I don't care for the man's work, and wouldn't let him near my vehicles. Some of the old styling stands on its own, is timeless, and doesn't need "overhauling". Who would alter a '63 Riviera or original Stingray?
I guess on some level, with that thinking, I agree with you. The little bit I saw was painful TV to me . . . not unlike when Mrs. VH switches on "Real Housewives".

Well, that's exactly my point. The '66 - '67 Dodge Charger is a really great piece of styling. The car took the boring Dodge Monaco front, put a perfectly proportioned fastback rear, and made a gorgeous car. The interior had true 2+ 2 styling, with a console that went all the way from front to rear, and four bucket seats, and this guy messed all of that up to make a mash up of slamming, subwoofers, and bondo. They should have just restored it to original. Whatever. Just a not very good show.
