The 14459 is typically listed for pre-2003 Honda motors and 14610 for 2003+ Honda motors. 14610 is the thinner, longer filter.
What I have noticed is that(and please correct me if I am wrong) Honda dealers carry only one type of filter which is the equivalent of the 14610. They do not have anything that resembles 14459. So if you take a pre-2003 car to the dealer for an oil change then you will get the 14610 type filter.
Any other shop will put a 14459 because thats what is listed in the aftermarket world for the car.
So what would be the correct filter to use ? Do what the dealer does (assuming Honda knows what they are doing) or stick with the original ?
