Hi, I recently got a '13 Optima 2.4 and for some reason the previous owner lost the owner's manual and I would like to know the ATF capacity of the 6-speed transmission and if SP-III or SP-IV ATF is recommended.

Thanks, that manual from Kia Canada has very useful information. The recommended ATF is SP-IV. I know the Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc ATF comply with that ATF spec but do anyone of you know another ATF from another brand which comply with the SP-IV specs???

Pennzoil Multi Vehicles Full Synthetic ATF is SP-IV too. Pep Boys has it at around $6/qt but they usually has 30-35% off coupon online, after discount the price is about $3/qt.
You have a 2013 Sonata, a car that shares everything with the Optima, what do you mean with tricky? If I'm not wrong the process to drain the ATF is remove the bolt, wait the old ATF to go out and and replece the bolt and put the new ATF throught the hole located under the air intake. If I'm wrong please correct me, I will be changing the ATF soon

ML ATF is what I use.
That method is correct, very simple. Just make sure the car is level if your using ramps/jacks. I used ramps for the front wheels and a large jack in the rear.

i mean tricky in that the car will have to be jacked to access the drain and depending on which one you choose, the fill hole and "level hole"....so the vehicle must be level, then fill till it runs out after reaching running temp ( and shifted into drive). otherwise you could carefully measure what you drained and replace the same amount..... i hate not having a dipstick
