OK, after doing a LOT of reading, and reviewing a bunch of other used oil analysis, I've decided on the following:
Come spring, when the wife's vehicle is due for her oil/filer change...
Flush the engine with Amsoil Engine Flush.
Use my last PP1 oil filter and last 5 quarts of Castrol Syntec Blend.
Next fall, on the next oil/filter change..
Flush the engine again with Amsoil Engine Flush.
Install an Amsoil Ea oil filter
Fill with 5 quarts 0w30 Amsoil Signature Series oil.
If figured if I'm going to try the one year interval, I might as well go with one of the best oils and filters.
Just to make sure I do the flush properly, would this be the correct procedure?
1. With the engine cold, replace the oil filter with a new (inexpensive) oil filter.
2. Add the Amsoil Flush and idle the engine for 15-20 minutes.
3. Remove and discard the oil and oil filter.
4. Install the new Amsoil oil and filter.
Would it also be beneficial to put in 5 quarts of an inexpensive oil with the flush and cheap oil filter for the flush?
Thanks again.
